Rutherford Fine Art Restoration started out in the mid 1980s as dealers/restorers of fine antique furniture, sourcing pieces in need of new life, buying, restoring and selling back into the trade.

At the same time I was painting in oils and selling to and through local galleries and exhibitions.

The sad demise of Brown Furniture from the late 80s through the 90s brought about the need for a change, which led to retailing via the internet in the 2000s.

Gradually we backed away from the business in 2015, leaving it to our daughters to take forward.

It wasn’t long before we decided on a return to dealing/restoring in 2016, but this time with frames and paintings. It felt like a natural progression given our past history. In time we decided to offer our services to clients for full frame restoration and cleaning and re-varnishing of oil paintings.

We are more than happy to travel to view and assess items, and offer advice and options for clients. We work mainly within Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and Derbyshire.
